Durham & Southern Railway Baldwin engine 365 at Dunn, NC in April 1976

In April 1976 I was making one of my frequent trips to visit my grand parents in Wadley, GA. If the weather was good I would stop in Dunn, NC to see if anything was going on with the Durham & Southern. This day I caught engine 365 basking in the early morning sun.

In 1976 it seemed every railroad in the US had at least one engine painted in Bicentennial colors. Almost brand new GP38s, Durham & Southern 2000 and 2002 are waiting for the next assignment at Dunn, NC. Time was running out for this little short line. The Durham & Southern was merged into the Seaboard Coast Line in September 1976. Disk 128
