In April 1976 I was making one of my frequent trips to visit my grand parents in Wadley, GA. If the weather was good I would stop in Dunn, NC to see if anything was going on with the Durham & Southern. This day I caught engine 365 basking in the early morning sun. |

In 1976 it seemed every railroad in the US had at least one engine painted in Bicentennial colors. Almost brand new GP38s, Durham & Southern 2000 and 2002 are waiting for the next assignment at Dunn, NC. Time was running out for this little short line. The Durham & Southern was merged into the Seaboard Coast Line in September 1976. Disk 128 |
