SP Railroad freight train symbol PTCIY at Gibson, California

SP train PTCIY is at Gibson, CA on June 8, 1980. Gibson is a 4,970 foot siding at milepost 304 (about 18 miles south of Dunsmuir). Train PTCIY handled traffic from Seattle via the BN destined for West Colton, City of Industry and other points in Southern California. Note the BN and Canadian National cars on the headend. This train became PTCIM in October 1985 and became the BNWCP in the Fall of 1986. The train has engines 9276, 9239, and 8902. The turbocharger on the 8902 blew up near Grass Lake soaking the first boxcar in oil. Fortunately it is mostly downhill from there all the way to Roseville. If you look closely (just below the first CN boxcar), you can see some guys panning for gold in the Sacramento River. Disk 19
