SP freight train at Palisade, NV

SP train RVOGP (Roseville Ogden Perishables) Extra 9058 East is leaving Palisade, NV on June 3, 1978. The train crossed Donner Pass at night and was scheduled out of Sparks at 530AM. Note the large block of mechanical reefers on the headend. This train is on the Western Pacific track and will soon cross over to the SP mainline for a crew change in Carlin. The train has engines 9058, UP 3132, and SP 9341. We are just about halfway between Reno and Ogden. The city of Carlin is named for Gen. William P. Carlin who was the first army officer to explore this area in 1858.
