This is a multi-function locomotive. The fireman is checking the week sprayer tank. Notice the spray nozzles just below the uncoupling bar at the rear of the tender. As the train moves down the track, these nozzles spray a weed killer along the right-of-way to keep the weeds under control. The engine is shoving a covered hopper onto the interchange track with the Missouri Pacific.
