Coal train symbol CW196 at Palmer Lake

Train CW196 is just cresting the top of the grade at Palmer Lake on September 20, 1987. On the headend are engines 5077, 5519, 5000, 5389, and 5576. Shoving hard just ahead of the caboose are a pair of D&RGW tunnel motors. The train will stop here to cut out the helpers. This train loaded at the Colo-Wyo Axial mine near Craig, CO and is headed to the Central Power and Light Co. power plant at Coleto Creek, TX. D&RGW moved the loaded train from the mine to Pueblo, BN then took it to Fort Worth, and SP made the final delivery.
