We begin our journey at Clovis, NM. Train SRSGV is pulling out of Clovis headed east on July 12, 1988. On the headend are engines 9544, 5100, and 5668. The train is carrying sulfur in tank cars. It loaded at Rustler Springs and came north through Roswell on the old Pecos Valley line. At Texico is will hang a right and go to Galveston. Clovis is at milepost 657 (measured from Kansas City) and is at an elevation of 4,260 feet.
