Extra 5427 East (Train 851) has stopped at Needles for a crew change on May 29, 1987. The train has engines 5427, 5367, 5814, and 8142. The installation of CTC between Seligman and Needles was completed in 2003. The elevation at Needles is 475 feet. From here the railroad climbs a 1.4% grade to Goffs.
