ATSF Railway Train Orders Stockton Interlocking Tower

ATSF Railway Train Orders Stockton Interlocking Tower

The Santa Fe dispatched trains using CTC between Bakersfield and Stockton. However, from Stockton to Richmond things were done the old fashioned way with train orders. ATSF Railway train 319 (Extra 3334 West) picks up orders at Stockton Tower on May 31, 1978.

Amtrak engine 543 at Stockton Interlocking Tower

Amtrak engine 543 pulls one of the San Joaquin passenger trains across the Southern Pacific mainline on October 16, 1976. Notice that the lower set of train orders are in middle position in the delivery post. This will make it easier for the conductor to grab his set while standing in the Dutch door of one of the coaches. Disk 25
