We are going to make a little detour and go north on the Inside Gateway. This line was completed in November 1931 at Bieber, CA. It was built to compete with the SP for traffic moving between California and Washington. Coming out of Tunnel 32 is train 138 with engines 3531, 3543, and BN engines 2104, 2103, and 2154.

After exchanging crews, the train tackles the 2.2% grade for about ten miles going up to Crescent Mills. At times the train looks like a model railroad display instead of the real thing. The date is November 4, 1976. Disk 26
