Late in the afternoon of November 1, 1976 train 968 (Extra 5637 East) is rolling through the crossover switches from SP trackage back to Santa Fe rails. This train generally had a large number of BN cars with a fair number of WP cars plus loads of lumber. The track curving off to the left in the foreground is the south yard lead. The next track over is the SP mainline heading south to Lancaster and Palmdale. The operator at the depot controls the switches and signals at this interlocking as well as the signals on track two from Mojave to Cameron. Disk 48 |
