Extra 8973 East has put its train back together and pulled to the east end of Bealville siding to meet BN6807 West on November 3, 1976. The Southern Pacific was experimenting with radio controlled helpers between Bakersfield and West Colton. The railroad borrowed some of the BN's radio control master SD40s and slave B units.
