After taking the submarine from Bremerton, WA through the Panama Canal to Charleston, SC, I flew back to California to pick up my car. I can't visit California without taking some train pictures, so my brother and I headed to the Tehachapi Mountains. Freight train symbol RVSSE (Roseville Sunset East-Extra 7919 East) grinds up the hill out of Caliente and through tunnel 1 in September 1973. The first batch of U30Cs (7900-7929) began working in the Tehachapi Freight Pool in 1968. Seven more U30Cs were added in 1969. They were traded back to GE in 1984 for B30-7s.

Coming out of tunnel 2 the train meets a pair of F45s returning to Bakersfield. These units had helped train 968 (old GWS symbol) up to Summit earlier in the day. Disk 41
