The beehives near Ilmon

A four unit helper set drops down the hill through Ilmon and by the beehives

Less than a mile further east the tracks cross Caliente Creek a second time. Just around that curve and behind the low hill is the west end of Ilmon siding. A four unit helper set drops down the hill and crosses the second bridge over Caliente Creek on May 30, 1978. Following close behind was the First 515. This was the timetable designation for the train not the symbol. Train 515 came over Cajon Pass on the Palmdale Colton Cut-off. Be careful here as those silver boxes in the foreground are beehives. The elevation here is 965 feet. Disk 40
