Southern Pacific Railroad Weed Local at Black Butte, CA

Southern Pacific Railroad Weed Local at Black Butte, CA Southern Pacific SD45 8858 switches cars at Black Butte

Engine 8858 is the power for today's Weed Local. The train is switching cars into the small yard at Black Butte on November 5, 1976. The water column was wiped out on December 7, 2000 when the COPR was switching in the yard and a tank car fouled the main line just north of the water column. The southbound Amtrak Starlight hit the tank car and derailed right on top of the water column. Disk 19
