Santa Fe Railway freight train symbol 508 at Cadiz, CA

Train 508 (Extra 5628 West) rolls through the junction at Cadiz on February 18, 1974. This is the beginning of the branch line that runs southeast to Parker and joins the line to Phoenix at Matthie, AZ. This line was completed on July 1, 1910 and was later spun off to become the Arizona and California Railway. North of Cadiz are the Marble Mountains. Cadiz is at milepost 648 at an elevation of 790 feet. Disk 49
