During the 70s, most of the scheduled UP trains into Los Angeles arrived between 530PM and 400AM, so it was tough to catch westbounds during daylight. Nick was delighted to catch the illusive Union Pacific. Train LAM was ahead of schedule this day and stopped in City of Industry to do some switching. The lighting wasn't good there so we moved to Whittier Jct. The train has engines 3170, 78B, 74, and 3287. The track in the foreground is the SP branch from City of Industry to Studebaker. UP's East Los Angeles Yard is just seven miles ahead. In the background of the first picture, you can see my old orange Datsun 510 station wagon. Disk 53
