Train NPLA with engines 3828, 3280, 3658, and 2467 rolls through Helendale on May 30, 1987. Back behind the train among the short trees is the Mojave River. Watch where you step as rattle snakes are out. Generally during the heat of the day they will be hiding under a bush to stay in the shade. So if you walk around the bushes you should be OK. The white patches in the distance aren't snow, it is just the white clay that blows out of the Mojave River and piles up like sand dunes. Disk 50
