Train 821 is adorned with cabooses 999311 and 999793 at Zuni, NM on July 23, 1989. Train 821 was established July 11, 1988 and handled traffic for Amarillo, Conrail at Streator (set out at Kansas City), Joliet, and BRC at Chicago. It could fill with cars for Belen, Wellington, and Fort Madison. During September 1989, it operated from Barstow 41 times (21 first sections, 19 second sections, and one third section). Of these 41 trains, 16 were annulled enroute, combining with other trains, and only eight arrived in Chicago on time. It was discontinued on December 18, 1989.
