Much has changed here over the years. Most of the yard tracks in the old ATSF Railway Barstow yard have been torn out and the tower is no longer there. ATSF train 189 with caboose 999467 curves away from the double track main to San Bernardino and crosses the long girder bridge over the Mojave River. Train 189 began in 1975 operating from Corwith Friday through Tuesday and changed to daily operations in 1979. It handled TOFC for Albuquerque, Phoenix, Fresno, Stockton, North Bay, and Richmond.
