Extra 8700 West is just leaving Sanderson, TX after a crew change on December 4, 1977. These low wooden trestles are common in the southwest. This one crosses Sanderson Creek. Sanderson is the Cactus Capital of Texas and by the 2000 census had a population of 861. The number of denizens dropped significantly when the SP decided to stop changing crews here.
