SP train on bridge at Palisade, NV

An SP westbound is crossing the Humboldt River west of Palisade, NV on June 3, 1978. Palisade is at milepost 526 (eight miles west of Carlin). The train has engines 8422 and 8828. The bridge in the fore ground belongs to the Western Pacific. Between Winnemucca and Wells, the two railroads used the SP line westbound and the WP line eastbound. The elevation here is 4,840 feet.
