Western Pacific train 171 drops downgrade toward Keddie late in the afternoon on July 8, 1979. In the picture below after exchanging crews, train 138 tackles the 2.2% grade for about ten miles going up to Crescent Mills. The date is November 4, 1976. At times the train looks like a model railroad display instead of the real thing. Disk 26
