B&O cabride Philson, PA

Ah this is the life. Just kicking back and listening to the roar of 645 prime movers as the miles roll away. I am riding in the last unit on three unit helper set and the train is near Philson. That is my foot resting on top of the cab heater. Notice that the load meter has dropped below 900amps as the back EMF has increased in relation to our speed. To the left of the westbound mainline, you can see what used to be a third main track. This track was added in 1911 and was used by slow freight train climbing the hill. Faster westbound trains used the westward main we are running on. The third main track was removed in 1960.

About a mile later, we meet an eastbound train with a GP30 on the point.
