A Halsted coal train (Extra 7220 East) is picking up train orders at Des Moines, NM on August 22, 1980. Behind the BN unit are MKT engines 603, 611, 614, and 610. You can see the rear of the train to the right of the lead unit. This train crew was running close to dying on the law. A dog catch crew would take over at Royce siding, 37 miles ahead. This train was turned over to the Katy at Fort Worth, thus the plethora of MKT units. The Katy then delivered the train to the Fayette Power Project Utility Sam Seymore power plant at Halstead, TX. These trains had FPPX and LCRX gondolas. |
