In its westward progress the railroad reached Holbrook in July 1881. There was still a little bit of snow on the ground as train 188 (Extra 5844 West) comes through Holbrook on February 17, 1988. A sort time later train 803 comes by with engines 5118, 5110, 5075, 3817, and 5183.
On the north storage track are loads of coal for the Southwest Industries paper mill west of Snowflake. For fans of Route 66, Holbrook is famous for the Wigwam Village Motel. It was built by Chester Lewis in 1950 and is to the right, behind the hoppers of coal. Disk 68
