These pictures are from the Arizona Memorial project and are in the public domain. The photo of the oriiginal train order station at Vail was taken around 1900. Construction on El Paso Southwestern wouldn't begin until early 1912. The copper mines that had financed the construction of the EP&SW suffered hard times after WWI and the railroad was lesed to the SP in 1924. In the picture below, the Sunset Limited running west of the EP&SW crosses over the SP line on the Cienega Bridge in the late 1920s. The train is powered by engine 4320. Beyond the railroad bridge is the US 80 highway bridge.
