On our September 1972 trip, we were on our second to last day on the road and stopped late in the afternoon at Yucca to see the local out of Kingman doing some switching. Note the stock pens to the right of the water tank. The crew paused briefly to allow an eastbound train 801 to pass. The train had engines 5605, 5520, 5570, and 5621. Train 801 was the new symbol for the old LAF train scheduled out of Los Angeles at 9:00AM. It generally followed the Super C out of San Bernardino and handled TOFC for Kansas City and Chicago. The symbol was deleted in 1977.
