Earlier that same morning (December 6, 1986) UP train symbol CHHOZ rolled into Bald Knob with engines 3746, 3169, 3308, 2910, and 637. This piggyback train began as MP train CHZ in the early 70s and became the CHHOZ and CHHOT in the Fall of 1986. The CHHOT operated from Yard Center on Friday and the CHHOZ operated on all other days.
Before the Civil War this location was known as Shady Grove. It was named Bald Knob for a large outcrop of rock. The railroad turned the rock into a quarry for ballast in 1877. During the 1950's, Bald Knob was known as the Strawberry Capital of the World. Disk 96
