Extra 3004 West is stopped at Soldier Summit and is waiting for Rio Grande train 136 to come up the hill. This is a Utah Railway coal train using run-thru power from the Union Pacific. This is export coal going to southern California. That is quite a set of horns on that lead unit. Train 136 is using the north main since a M/W crew is working on the south main. While we wait, Ruth has found an old horseshoe by the crossing buck. The elevation at this crossing is 7,440 feet. Disk 32
