Rock Island Railroad trains meet at Saginaw, Texas

Late in the afternoon of on August 12, 1978, Rock Island train 21 (Extra 319 South) is holding the main at Saginaw meeting northbound train 20. The grain elevator in the background is now the Attebury elevator and served by the BNSF. Eight months later, train 26 (Extra 4542 North) was slowing to pick up train orders at the tower at Saginaw. The train is crossing over the Santa Fe mainline on April 14, 1979.

In the background is the Gavilon Grain grain elevator. It was built by Burris Grain in 1936 and at the time was the largest elevator in Texas. Disk 87
