The former ATSF branch line crossed the former Rock Island mainline to Tucumcari at Stratford. The HPASFTW (Pasco, WA to Fort Worth manifest) is approaching the crossing late in the afternoon on the second day of my trip. The train had engines 904, NS 9921, and NS 9546. |

After a short drive southwest I thought I had found Alco heaven. Actually, this is a westbound manifest with engine 4969 in the lead accelerating out of Dalhart after changing crews. Before reaching my vantage point, the train will cross the former FW&D mainline. This crew will run all the way to Vaughn, NM. |
